A Day Out With Thomas

Memorial Day weekend every year Thomas comes to visit in Heber. This is the first year we gave it a try and it was worth it. Amanda, Mom, and the kids met Jake, Gabriel and I up there. We got to ride Thomas, take pictures with Sir Toppham Hat, get a Thomas Tattoo, go through a fun maze, get a balloon animal, and pick out a toy from Grammie. Right when we were leaving it began to rain, perfect timing. Thanks Amanda and Grammie for joining us! I thought the last picture was funny because of a look that Gabey is giving Annie.

Here is Gabriel. Isn't he sweet and handsome? He made me laugh today. We watched the recorded season premiere of  "So You Think You Can Dance?". Afterwards he was playing with my keyboard in the basement hitting the tempo key  and dancing around like the B boys on the show, saying "Watch this Mom"  and "You like that?". As he gets more daring he accidentally hits over a chair and then gets dizzy and plows into the laundry room closet. You'd think he'd cry but, no, he turns around with a big smile on his face and a red mark on his forehead and started laughing asking me if that was "super-cool?"  This is one little guy who can always make me smile.

Orvis is a snugglebug. He likes to be wherever you are and often lays down on your feet, blankets pillows and he especially loves being in the sun coming through the windows.

It's been a while

Hello everyone!! I feel as though it has been a while and it has been, so for that I am sorry. Some things we have been doing as of late are as follows:

Listening to A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh in the car, which Gabey and I both enjoy.
Yardwork (forever and ever and ever at this house)
Young Women ( I was called as Secratary a month ago with a pregnant President and 1st Counselor and no camp director and camp is six weeks away. All the rosters were a year old and with a high turnover in our area, I had to go off three different lists to make new ones for everyone. But, it is all worth it.)
Hanging out with Jacob (I'm not sure why I like calling him that. He is done with the semester and we took full day off and enjoyed one another's company while Gabey hung out with Grammie, and the clan for an overnight, she is an angel! We went to PF Changs and stayed downtown at the Marriot City Center. What a great guy I ended up with.)
Hanging out with Grammie. (I've been running errands for Mom once a week, errands, cleaning apartment stuff, deposits. It has been nice to have a good excuse to help out. We also had the opportunity to go to a Quilt Show this last weekend. I am trying to convince Mom that she needs a quilting machine.......so I can use it:)
Working Hard on Mom's Mother's Day present. (Thanks to Amanda and her family and Jacob, I was able to, somehow, finish a stack and slash quilt for Mom. The owl fabric
was perfect, since Mom used to collect owls.)
Working Hard on Nanna's Mother's Day present. ( As I was working on Mom's I felt it was only proper to show our love to Jacob's wonderful mother, Zina, as well. I found perfect elegant fabric that fit her personality. I decidedto do another stack and slash quilt before Mother's Day and still had not finished Mom's yet. Thanks again to Jake helping out with Gabey I finished hers as well...Yes, that is right two gorgeous quilts in two weeks, I never knew I had it in me, however it will take a week for me to get the house and laundry under control, since that is what went neglected)

Jake and Gabey did a great job for Mother's Day. Gabey got me a Belgian Waffleiron with money from his Sears Blimp Bank that Jake gave him a while ago. who new two hundred pennies could buy such a gift?:) Jacob made me cry with his sweet catch of a lifetime card and gave me an awesome gift certificate to my hair place. I think it was more of a hint that my hair was in need of some help..:) Good job boys!
Mark likes to give me a hard time for writing too much and not enough pictures. I'm having serious issues with my computer, so I will post pictures some other time. Hill Aerospace Museum

Saturday was Grammie and Amelia's day of fun! Amanda and Mark have moved into a beautiful new home, not far from my parents. To help out, Grammie and I took the kids and had a blast. Ty was a little afraid of unpredictable Orvis, but got used to him after a little while. We played at my house while the rest of the crew was lifting, sweating, and getting excercise... why would anyone want to do that? :)

We went to an early lunch at Arctic Circle. After talking Grammie into ice cream AND a gum ball we went to the Hill Aerospace Museum (Gabe was determined to say it the right way, and says it very well).

I'ts Good for Me

Gabriel cracks me up all the time, but yesterday he was being specially hillarious. We had spent the day with Amanda and the kids and afterwards ran errands. When I told him we were going to the craft strore to run an errand, he enthusiastically clapped his hands together exclaiming, "Yay! I love the craft store!". I think it does concern Jake a little that Gabe enjoys also watching me sew and scrapbook, so he made sure last week that there was some guy stuff going on. So, continuing on with the day Gabriel said hello to every person in the craft store, and strking up conversation with the lady whom helped cut our fabric. He was very polite and asked her how old she was after she had asked him, she said 12 (maybe plus 40) and then he asked if it was her favorite number, then asked if she had scissors and what she was doing with them. Needless to say she loved him and told me he was adorable four different times, then asked if I get that alot. I said yes, but it is always nice to hear because I think he is adorable, and I worry sometimes if it is just a mother's love.

We get home and Gabriel has a bum issue, where we needed to get to the Doctor. He loves to strike up conversation with the Doctors when they come into the room, he shakes their hand and then tells them why we are there, and as they are looking in his ears, he asks if there is a Rhinoceros or Elephant. When we get to the Pharmacy to pick up special medicine for him he is singing to the ABC song something like this, "we are here in line and waiting for our medicine for my bum to feel better". I was laughing as he continued while getting ready to eat a banana, "I have a banana and it's good for me. I like to chew it, it is yummy." Now, this is still to the Alphabet tune, and by now we are leaving the store and it this is what I hear, "It is getting dark, it is getting dark. Oh no! I'm scared, it is getting dark, and we are gonig home, Mommy? are we going home.... do you like my song?"
How can I have a day like that and not love being his mom? I listen to 101.9 fma and there was a new song, I believe, where the first part of it says, "I like to ride my bike with no handle bars, no handle bars, no handle bars...". Gabe asked me what the song was called, which I normally make up, within a minute he was singing something about "No chocolate bars". Grammie put it well one time about four months ago, where I was talking to her about how much Gabe talks and understands and she said that sometimes you are not sure if you really want to know what is going on in the mind of a three year old. I agree, but man, it can make your day.

Since it has been warmer out, we have been spending a little time outside. They had these butterfly nets at a local store for a buck and Gabe has been wanting one for a while. So, we got his "golotias" on and he ran around the yard trying to catch...rocks. After that he ended up pushing his frog around in a stroller. We sure love him around here.

For an update on our dog, Orvis is funny. He is turning out to be a good dog. His favorite toys are medium sized bouncy balls, and he is still afraid of the vaacum cleaner. I will need to get video of him when I come up from the basement because he does this thing where he bounces around like a bunny rabbit and it cracks me up, so he does it more. Yes, he sleeps in our bed most nights, but come on, you all know me. Does it really surprise you that I like some kind of animal to snuggle with? I think I've passed that on to Gabe
